Embracing the Wild: Nudity, Body Acceptance, and Freedom
Having just returned from hosting my wild and rooted retreat in the untamed landscapes of Wales, I find myself struggling to put the experience into words. Yet, one theme stands out among the many reflections: nudity. Yes, nudity—not as an act of provocation, but as a deep expression of freedom, self-acceptance, and reconnection with nature.
The retreat brought together women from all walks of life—different ages, backgrounds, and personal stories. Some arrived carrying the weight of heartache, others craving a deeper connection with their wilder, untamed selves. Some just wanted to awaken their playful side. A tribe of women longing to rediscover parts of themselves that had maybe been lost along the way. A gathering of women ready to frolic in nature, move with the seasons, and just be around epic women. No pressure, no expectations—just surrendering to the wisdom women hold.
One of the most striking moments was our adventure to a very hard to reach beach. As we ran toward the waves, some women—particularly those in their sixties—cast aside their clothing and dove into the water naked. It was an act of complete and uninhibited joy, of rebellion against a world that had long told them to shrink, to hide. And in that moment, something powerful happened. The younger women, watching these bold, unshackled bodies move through the water with such ease, felt the invitation. An unspoken permission to let go, to embrace themselves without fear.
